Flash tools of the trade: flash-plugin switcher

Very recently I wrote about a Firefox extension: the FlashTracer written by Alessandro Crugnola. This extension will only make the hearts of Flash developers go faster, which it did in my case: I love this plugin! And although this is a relative new Firefox extension, it already helped me debug a application that I build.

Alessandro Crugnola is also the guy that gave us SE|PY (this is the editor I use for Flash programming)

Screenshot of Flash Switcher extension for FirefoxAlessandro created another Firefox extension: Flash Switcher extension for Firefox

Flash Switcher extension for FirefoxFlash Switcher – This extension comes with all the currently published flash player plugins (from the version 2 to the most recent 9,0,16) and allows you to easily switch from one plugin to another, or also to remove the currently installed plugin (maybe for testing the express install).

I used to use KewBee Plugin Switcher. Which is now for free, but if I remember correctly will be a commercial program. The big plus of that program is that it also works for IE, but who cares…. (and windows doesn’t like that you install / uninstall something without their knowledge, so it creates lot of ERRORS).

Firefox 2.0 installed

Yes I did, 2 days ago.
That not really hot news… (although Firefox promotion is always good!).
It has some very nice new features so check it out.

Although this is not why I talk about Firefox; I created a Firefox extensions series to explain why I use them. And the coming of Firefox 2.0 has some effect on my extensions.
Some of them are obsolete: Spellbound and Tab Mix Plus (it’s integrated in Firefox 2 ), which is a good thing.
Update #2: Tab Mix Plus is not entirely obsolete, some features are integrated, but it’s still very useful!

But some don’t work en the new version: my Resizeable Textarea doesn’t work anymore, which is a pain in the butt. I found the new version for FF2.0: install Resizeable Textarea 0.1c directly.
Strangely enough “Bookmark this page” doesn’t work (and this is not a extension). Update #1: I have no idea but it works again!.
And last but not least, ListZilla thinks that all extension are installed and they are not.
Some are • uninstalled by me, some just don’t work

Update #3: I stopped using Listzilla and changed to Infolister because it has more features.

Update: 27 November 2006 the new list extensions generated by InfoLister:

Extensions (enabled: 48, disabled: 47):

Urban papercraft: Ken Munk

Another cool urban papercraft project: Antlor – the deer departed by Kenn Munk.

Antlor 3

This project could creep you out! Kenn is the type of guy who likes too shot, kill paper animals, cut-em-up and hang these hunting trophies on the wall.

This is series 1, it has 3 different designs which can be bought.

But…… I love stuff that’s for free, and I love the blank versions:
Get your own Antlor hunting trophy.
And a DIY Antlor

Antlor 1 & 2

Ill wait and see what happens in series 2.

(and yeah I will try too make one of my own)

Creating papercraft: Grumm – part6

I finished the Grumm printsheet version 3:
Grumm a4 printsheet version 03a

I’ve tested this printsheet a couple of times and is as good as I can make it right now
And now you will probably ask: “where is the .PDF?”
Well …I first want too make a “skin” for Grumm before all of my “friends” start building one.
But I have asked the friendly people of Frutabomba too create a custom Grumm.

But leave your email here in the comments, and as soon as possible I will send you a file you can work with. really I will!

So too collect all the stuff I did these couple of weeks:
The mugshots of the prototype:

Creating papercraft: Grumm – update

I found my digital camera, the batteries are full and I have some daylight:

So some pictures of the 3 stages of prototyping:

Creating papercraft: Grumm – part5

I modified the print page again, but it’s more an exercise in beauty then major ajustments.

So the bigger part of today I spend on designing a logo for Grumm:

First version:
Grumm logo version 1

And after some tips from Symen:
Grumm logo version 2

So time to go to bed, and tomorrow is my birthday (well it’s 2 o’clock, it’s already my birthday)

Creating papercraft: Grumm – part4

From Grumm print v02 I noticed that it is quite small to build! It’s economical to print on one piece of A4-paper, but not very practical.
So I translate the one piece of A4-paper version to a two piece of A4-paper print.

But I haven’t got much time today: so I printed the plans I made yesterday (Creating papercraft: Grumm – part3).

And build this somewhat bigger version of Grimm:
Grumm prototype version 3 (two A4 papers)
(let’s find that digital camera!)

Urban papercraft: Kilobus

Update #1: my French is non-existing but even when it’s translate I don’t read it good: Wim pointed out the correct submission date of the contest: 20 October…
So from today (updated on 18 October) you have two days to finish your design.

In my Urban papercraft series I wanted to talk about Ken Munk and Fwis Readymech but they have to wait…

Team Kilobus from France surprised me with there gorilla. And because there is a contest going on, perhaps it’s interesting to join if you want to.

My French is bad… and thats an understatement. So let me (google) help translating the page where you can read everything: Customize the gorilla where you also can find the .PDF and start coloring because this contest last till the end of this month (October).

An example by Ecklectic

The first time a ran into this papercraft project I wasn’t impressed… I bookmarked the site, and today I saw it again. And team Kilobus has been busy: they has created a contest with the gorilla with some nice prices. He cleaned up the papercraft and contestants.

As I said: I’m glad I bookmarked the site.

I will make one of my own, but not before the ending of this month… I’m busy creating my own papercraft figure. (and I need to finish my design for this blog!)

Creating papercraft: Grumm – part3

Because the name “dude2006” was a working title, I wanted something more fitting for the design.
And where do you go to when you want a cool name: Symen Veenstra! And he came back with: Grumm.

In the prototype I made in Creating papercraft: Grumm – part2 I made some adjustments:

  • legs were to “fat”
  • waist to big (no room for hands)
  • change in the angle of the glue tabs (they have to be 45 degree)
  • some instructions on the glue tabs (names and connection numbers)

Check Grumm papercraft version 2:

This is post is not written in chronicle order, but you will not notice the difference. It more a historical thing…

Creating papercraft: Grumm – part2

Today I started working on the “flat” version of papercraft Grimm (at this stage the working title was still dude2006):
