Flatpack toys other then ReadyMech

Readymechs are free flatpack toys designed to fit on an 8.5x11 and to be printed on any printer.

update #1: After updating my blog to Thickbox (of course by a wp-thickbox plugin and don’t forget wp-jQuery), if found out that some of the images I found are missing… So that’s the update I did!

I’ve written about ReadyMech before and I wanted to know if there were more examples of the flatpack toys…

A while back I got a Computer Art from May 2006.
In this magazine was a winner from the Computer Arts forum contest who could design the best Flatpack toys .
The winner was Rigel (Sarah Bibby) and her creation is called Glump (I can’t find anything about this).

I’ve been looking for the result of this contest but could find very little.
So I asked the peeps of toydigger (it’s in Dutch) to help… no result.

Update: I changed the way you can view the images (it was too much…). I used Safirul Alredha wp_lightbox2 plugin for this, and it looks very nice.

Today I try to find some more FlatPack examples and this is my result:

Today I hit the 1000+ spam stopped by Akismet

You got to love Akismet

Today I had a peak of 72 spam massages in 1 day (which is the highest I had since I started blogging, but there are blog who laught at this number).
Which set the total counter to 1061 deleted spam massages.

So it’s a sad day that bloggers need to catch spam massages, but a good day because I didn’t have to read / select / delete 1062 spam massages myself.

I Askimet

Update #1:
Here: Miahz and Emi seems to be having the same thoughts about this subject.

Grumm by Enkeling: Grummeling

I’ve asked a couple of friends and colleague to design a skin for Grumm.

The first to finish a skin is Symen Veenstra aka Enkeling and he called it: Grummeling

Grumm by Enkeling: Grummeling

And Grummeling from all angles:

Grumm Fabrique

A quick test I made for Grumm.

It’s done on the stationery paper from the company I work for.

So for lack of a better name, lets call it: Grumm Fabrique
Grumm Fabrique And look at him from all angles:

I call it: Grumm the Screamer – Red
Grumm the Screamer - Red And look at him from all angles:

Update#1: Nobody will see the difference but I’ve updated the flash movie, so it’s now possible to choose the rotation direction.

DIY Firefox extension version 2.0

Update: It’s beter to change it to a flexible number so it’s future prove
So I changed “2.0” to “2.*
like this

0.7
2.*

You just installed FireFox 2.0 and enjoying it!
You want to use one of your favorite extensions but you can’t: it’s not compatible with FireFox 2.0.
You want to install a new extension, and you can’t: it’s not compatible with FireFox 2.0.

Sound familiar?

I found the solution:
It’s possible to update some extensions to FireFox 2.0 (this doesn’t always work… I know this from my own experience so be careful!)

Most of the time it’s a version number that has to be changed… And it’s not difficult.
But remember, some code may not work,
In most cases this will work: most programs are backward compatible which means that is can handle old code.

So here a step by step walk through this process.

xpi files are just zip files, so you can update any extension to work with the latest Firefox yourself by following these instructions:

Urban papercraft: Fwis Readymech

ReadyMechs serie 01

I can’t tell this better then Fwis do them self:

Fwis Presents Readymech – Free flatpack toys for you to print and build. Readymechs are free flatpack toys designed to fit on an 8.5â€?x11â€? and to be printed on any printer.

I can’t give you the definition what a flatpack toys is. I can show you!

There are no blank versions of the Readymech, but with a little imagination you can make a couple new designs yourself!

And if you need a little help: Computer Arts has a tutorial about Design and build a flatpack toy.

You can download the tutorial for free or just download the support files from the “bad-boy”, print it and start building.

Sociable WordPress plugin

A new addition to the series of WordPress Plugins I have installed:
Sociable

Social bookmarking sites allow web surfers to save, catalog, and share interesting pages they find online. The Sociable plugin appends links for your readers to use those sites to the end of each of your blog’s posts, increasing your potential audience.

The reason for this WordPress plugin is in this article: successful-blog-launch. Go to chapter 7 “Social Bookmarking (aka Going Viral)”.

And so I started to look at a wp-plugin that includes all social bookmarking sites (and not for instants only Digg although this is also a very good wp-plugin). And that is the reason I use Sociable.
