Flash Video Player

Introduction

For some time I’ve been wanting to build a Flash video player, that’s easy to use in html, but can also be used in other Flash (OOP) projects.
After some research I came to the conclusion that enough people (http://www.flvplayer.com/) have already created their version of this… and also particularly good!

But that’s OK: as a good Dutch friend of mine once said:

“Alles is al een keer gemaakt, maar nog niet door mij!
(translation: “Everything is already created once, but not by me! )

With this in mind, I made MY version of a flv-player:

flvPlayer_mck version 1.0
flvPlayer_mck version 1.1
flvPlayer_mck version 1.2
flvPlayer_mck version 1.3

Why a video player

On the net there’s a trend towards more and more video (for example: Google video, YouTube, etc). More and more people (read young people) use webcams for MSN or Skype. Almost every digital camera has the possibility to make small movies, as is the same with mobile phones. And bandwidth is no longer a problem (at least in the Netherlands).

Why use flash for playing video

There are indeed more methods for playing video (Windows media Player, Real Player, Quicktime Player).
But the Flash plugin has a huge penetration (…. pardon my French… it’s not me, Macromedia uses the term) on the Internet (in Europe, 94.9% of the browsers has the flashplugin 7 (with flv support)).

Besides that, I’m very good at Flash and quite bad at Quicktime.

About Flash Video

FLV (Flash Video) is a file format used to deliver video over the Internet to the Macromedia Flash Player version 6, 7 or 8. FLV content may also be embedded within SWF files.

Licensing

Beside this I would appreciate it if holla at me, if you use my player.
And for the peeps that don’t read the fineprint.
YOU commercial, show ME the money!.
And the market value of the player seems to be 15 euro’s. So let me know.
