there is a blank Mask Hoody for the designers, who want to participate in the next series.
With designs from:
(and now you will see how impatience I am: I don’t want to wait and see all different Spiky Baby randomly, so I “hacked” the swf and got the url )

And the stuff that Shin Tanaka adds:

I decided to share a “hobby” of mine (read more about my “hobbies”).
Shin Tanaka is my favorite (well …. I can’t find a lot of builders who approach papercraft with a urban style). I like the simple shapes he uses to create the figures and that they fit on one pace of paper. But what makes him a genius is the fact that he makes DIY paper toys. And it works…. I want to design one too. So this will be added to my wish list. I especially like the GRITTY.
An example: darkimey X GRITTY
One of the master himself: QRCOD GRITTY
So if you have some spare time try one of these: the custom designed paper model collection especially made as a canvas for graffiti writers and designers who want to present their work for public! Or design a SPIKY BABY or GRITTY
Basic Spike from the SPIKY BABY [SERIES 3] – box
<< An example from bicho
The only “comment” I have about Shin that his portfolio-site doesn’t let us see everything he made in the past: he also made some papercraft based on figures from Michael Lau (Michael Lau creates bad ass figures!!): Davy (red), Davy in different colors, SF.M.L.F, and a “Special Paper Model Download Page” in English.
Update #1: An article about Shin Tanaka can be found Pingmag – The Tokoyo-based magazine
This year I was invited by Nick Knite to design papertoys robots for PAPER ROBOTS published by h.f.ullmann.
Here are my robots (sorry for the poor images, couldn’t find a decent shot of them): BurddBott and Walkrr TXR
I’m one of the 15 papertoy artists from all around the world and we produced 25 robots!
The book is ready and its awesome!
It will be in four languages (English, German, French and Spanish) and is already available on amazon for pre-ordering.
Some of the artist in the book also wrote about it:
but the rest of the artist are too awesome not to mention:
Matt Hawkins, Marshall Alexander, Abz, Shin Tanaka, Castleforte, Dolly Oblong, Jonny Chiba, Scott Schallar and Vinsart.
If you want to see more, here is a link to the product-page on ullmann-publishings website with more details and previews.
Eventually there will be microsite on the Ullmann-website, where you can download free robots, some of them brand new and never released before!!
The microsite on the Ullman-website is live! Get your free robots over there!!!
Check more photos here, on HAKUSAI PROJECTS coverage of #up13 where we officially introduced the book to the public.
Finally I join the papertoy world again and enter a contest….
(popsetpaper.com, Happy Colours’ Attack)
But for I can’t finish the papertoy in time ð (my live is changed a lot!)
Damn I just couldn’t get more time in the design/build… I wanted to compete but there are more important things to do…
I could be sad, but I’m not, so instead of winning a contest
Ishare the end result with you (this is my blog so why not):
I introduce to you:
a C-Myk papertoy
(and my first Shin Tanaka custom)
Hope you like it.
I always wanted to do a papertoy sneaker. The bad thing is that a few papertoy designers did this before me.
And I don’t want to do something that someone else already did before me. So no urban paper sneaker for me…. Till my girl bought a pair of PUMA sneakers: they are awesome!
So I just googled a little bit about for limited edition PUMA sneaker and it convinced me to do a papertoy PUMA sneaker.
My urban paper PUMA sneaker is loosely based upon PUMA First Round model (check the online shoe customizer: PUMA MONGOLIAN SHOE BBQ)
The blank template:
My own design:
I don’t have the templates ready for publising, so you have to wait for that a little bit.
(or ask leave a comment so I can send what I have now)
I don’t have to mention that the PUMA logo is not mine, right?
A while back Nick Knite asked me to create a custom for his MechaBunny.
I’ve created NOISSGrunny:
Here the Nick Knite – MechaBunny slideshow on Flickr (including my custom):

I’m one step closer filling the 6 slots for Pusher Series 1 (Designers on Drukks).
Scott Schaller is filling the 5th slot with his Dr. Bear
An awesome design. And I love the extras Scott designed for Dr. Bear, especial the brain case.. Always wanted a evil Doctor in my papertoys collection.
Of course is Scott and Nice paper toys member, you almost have to be ð …
Some other nice-toknow information: Scott is a Graphic Design Teacher, which isn’t that special: a lot of papertoy designers have a creative job or education. No, besides teaching Graphic Design, Scott is also in charge of an after school program: F studio.
As a design teacher, I often throw in a lot of hand skills oriented components to the projects I assign. The computer plays a big part in all of our projects, but the finishing of a project, whether it is binding a box or constructing a packaging comp, is the part that makes the project complete. Paper toy crafting just seems to be a natural next step, combining design and illustration, hand skills, and toy making.
we are making our own vinyl toys, including the design, sculpting, and casting of resign models
How cool it that!!! I’m trying to figure this stuff out in my spare time and here is a teacher who can teach you everything you ever wanted to know. Man I’m jealous.
Visit Cabrillo Design Lab for more info.
Check this out: Custom self portraits by students of Scott (and himself) based upon boxy from Shin Tanaka.
This is a special one, you don’t want to mis this series: the master himself is giving some new models away in this download.
Of course the SPIKY BABY are designed by some very talented designers, and you should check them out (see the links below), but I’m a fan, and the models Shin makes are really cool.
So lets take a look at this SPIKE BABY custom:
Don’t know how they are called but the link is called “SMN” and the image “SNKR” (sneaker?)
Link and image is called “TTB”
As other SPIKY BABY series you can download all models at random, but I don’t have the patience to download them all that way.
So I hacked it a little and give you all the links at once:
